Apollo Studio Berlin features a professional analogue mixing and DAW setup designed for high-end recording, mixing and hybrid production workflows.
At the core of the studio are two analogue mixing consoles with distinctly different sonic characteristics. The main console is a recent development by Michael Zähl and Mark Ernestus (Basic Channel, Hard Wax). Michael Zähl has been building custom-made consoles since the 1970s, including desks for legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank.
For this console, he combined his highly musical, signature filter design with state-of-the-art SMD technology, resulting in an exceptional 60-channel analogue mixing desk that forms the heart of Apollo Studio Berlin.
In addition, the studio features a fully restored vintage mixing console from BEAG originally used at the Weimar Opera House. Built with first-generation germanium transistor technology, it is an outstanding tool for adding character, delivering fat and warm low frequencies and smooth, silky highs.
ZÄHL AM-1 Analogue Mixing Console
The ZÄHL AM-1 is a pure analogue 60-channel mixing console and the technical heart of the studio.
